Christmas

It's Christmas Eve and I am sitting here and writing this. Don't get it wrong, I like Christmas and I actually had a good time this year on this day, but something is missing ...
I just sat there for a moment today and thought of all those beautiful memories of me and my family being together on this one special day. I remembered all of my cousins, aunts, uncles, my brother, my grandparents and parents being together in one small room in a one bedroom apartment. We didn't have much back then, no fancy phones, no LCD's, no computers, laptops or tablets, but it didn't matter because we were together, we were family, we were happy and that was the most important thing for us. I remembered the smell of cookies and food my mother and grandmother made. I remember the silly man who dressed as Santa (I still don't know who it was). I remembered being afraid of the big man in red because he once put me in his bag. I remembered the moments I used to fight with my brother over the Christmas presents and making up with him afterwards because cars were obviously for him and dolls were for me. I remembered the entire family sitting in front of the Christmas tree singing carols together. I remembered the snow falling down, the snowmen and snow angels we used to make I simply remembered being once happy.
But now I can't really say I am happy on this day. I moved away from home, I moved to another country. I've lost my grandmother and father and I'm not getting them back no matter how many letters I would write to Santa. I left my family and friends behind, except my mom and bro who, thanks God, are still by my side.
I wish I could turn back time and have one more Christmas like the ones I have kept safe in my memory, but I can't, so all there is left for me to do is enjoy the ones that are still to be celebrated and be thankful for everything I have.
I am thankful my mom, bro, grandpa and everyone I love (even if they are far away) are healthy. I am thankful I have a home where to live, clothes to put on and food to set on the table.
May the Christmas joy fill everybody's heart with love and happiness, their mind of happy thoughts and their face with smiles. Be thankful for what you have, forgive if someone has done something wrong, show your love to the ones you love and never forget to appreciate what you have!

Merry Christmas people!
XoXo Shinee Love
